Having a website is not the same as having a website that sells. After auditing dozens of business sites in Colombia and Europe, these are the seven mistakes that cost the most customers — and all of them are fixable.
1. It takes more than 3 seconds to load
More than half of visitors abandon a slow site, and Google demotes it in results. Test your site free on PageSpeed Insights: if it scores red, you're paying for that mistake every day.
2. WhatsApp is hidden (or missing)
In Latin America customers want to message you, not call or fill long forms. If your WhatsApp button isn't visible on every screen, you're losing leads who were already convinced.
3. It shows no prices (not even 'from')
The fear of 'scaring people off' with prices scares off more: customers assume it's expensive or waste time asking and never come back. Publishing 'from' prices filters tire-kickers and builds trust — almost nobody in your industry does it, which is exactly why it works.
4. It talks about you, not the customer
'We are a leading company with vast experience…' — your customer doesn't care. They care about their problem. Swap 'about us' for 'this is what we solve for you' on the first screen and watch the difference in inquiries.
5. It looks broken on mobile
Three out of four visits come from a phone. Tiny buttons, overflowing text and impossible menus turn visitors into bounces. Your site should be designed mobile-first, not adapted as an afterthought.
6. Outdated information
Old hours, expired promotions, a three-year-old copyright. An abandoned site sends a dangerous message: 'does this business still exist?'. A monthly maintenance plan costs less than a single lost customer.
7. It doesn't tell Google (or AI) what you do or where
Without proper titles, structured data and a connected Google Business Profile, your site is invisible to Google and to the AI assistants now recommending businesses. It's technical work invisible to the eye, but it's what brings new customers every month.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my website is slow?
Go to PageSpeed Insights (free, by Google), enter your URL and check the mobile score. Under 50 is critical; 50–89 needs work; 90+ is good.
Should I rebuild my site or fix it?
If the issue is content or a few details, fix it. If the site is slow at its core, not responsive or built on unsupported legacy tech, rebuilding with modern technology usually costs less than patching and performs better on Google.
